Few other suburbs in Brisbane can match Kangaroo Point for its views and natural beauty. Standing atop the ancient cliffs, the unmasked views of the river, city and mountains show the city at its best, whether it’s as the sun is rising or as the city skyline lights up in the evening. The cliffs are an iconic location, and various demographics frequent the area, from tourists, fitness enthusiasts, couples, and groups of friends. Understanding the history and function of the site was the starting point for this project.

Joey’s design is a celebration of Brisbane and Queensland, from the warm climate to the laidback lifestyle. Paying homage to Queensland architecture was integral, with patrons feeling as though they’re on the back deck of a Queenslander or around the pool at a hotel. Keeping the palette fresh, neutral, and a little bit coastal achieved this. Pops of pale blue offset clean whites and oak timber furniture. The timber panelling and louvre windows feel quintessentially Queenslander. Blending in with the surrounding environment has allowed the view to remain the hero of Joey’s.

Joey’s is a Bellissimo partnership, and although it’s a departure from their usual coffee fare, their ethos remains at the core of Joeys. For Bellissimo, people come first and creating an inclusive and comfortable environment is essential.
