Established in 2015, Alkot Studio, formerly known as The Retail Designers, has gone from strength to strength, flourishing into an industry-leading multidisciplinary studio specialising in high-end residential, retail, and hospitality Interior Design, as well as Retail Design Management. The multi-talented team, led by industry expert Barbara Albert, have worked across a vast number of projects and developments, from large multi-use precincts to small-scale neighbourhood centres and everything in between.

Behind Alkot Studio

There’s no one quite like Barbara in her industry. Charismatic and vivacious, her passion is immediately infectious. Knowledge like hers hasn’t been acquired overnight. Her experience spans over 25+ years, across a vast number of projects and developments, from large multi-use precincts to small-scale neighbourhood centres and everything in between.

With her multi-disciplinary and collective approach, Barbara has founded one of the few specialised and bespoke studios in the Queensland design sector. They are experts in hospitality, retail, and residential design as well as all the delivery processes and requirements that make up some of the country’s most successful brands. 

Born in Europe but having lived in Australia for the majority of her life, she has experienced the evolution of retail in the country. As director of Alkot Studio, formerly known as The Retail Designers, she has played a large part in shaping the growth of the retail and hospitality sectors.

With extensive experience working on multiple developments and projects, alongside thousands of retailers, she has cultivated a holistic and vast knowledge of the industry. Her solid connections in the industry allow her to be at the forefront of change and progression.

Collaborative in nature, she ensures the best results are delivered for her client. She values transparency, giving clients comfort in honest processes. Barb and the Alkot team continue to grow and evolve to remain relevant and innovative.
