Brava Lingerie’s first concept store, opened late September 2021 on the trendy James St, Brisbane’s premier shopping precinct, marked the brand’s Queensland expansion.

The lingerie brand, established in 2006 by mother and daughter duo, Lin and Maxine Windram for women blessed with larger busts, has a strong following in Victoria with their stores found in shopping centres throughout the state. Born out of a frustration for the pre-existing options (or lack thereof) for larger busts, Lin and Maxine created Brava Lingerie, dedicating themselves to dramatically improving the shopping experience for D-cup and up women. Women with larger cup sizes are often ignored both in customer service and bra design options, leaving them feeling excluded and inferior. Brava Lingerie is actively challenging and rewriting this narrative, offering a safe, inclusive space, beautiful bras, and exceptional customer care.

For their Brisbane debut, which has served almost as a brand redirection and refresh, Alkot Studio took the time to strip back and refine the essence of Brava Lingerie, using this as the base for the interior design. The concept store, the first of its kind for the brand, offers a highly personalised retail experience and signals a new direction for Brava Lingerie. Taking the location into consideration, curved, rendered walls and soft, organic tones were utilised to tie in with the neighbouring Calile Hotel-style of interior fit-out as well as reflect the quality of the Brava product. With everything made to measure and fitted individually, design elements such as bespoke handmade bra displays drive home the unique Brave Lingerie experience and prevent the space from feeling cluttered. Podium-style displays are installed throughout the store, allowing for a more modern method of styling products. Pale timber, cream, and beige tones are offset with rich, sumptuous dark amber velvet.

As bra shopping and fittings are such an intimate and hands-on process, clients can often feel quite vulnerable. To alleviate any such feelings, heavy change room curtains have been used so the client can feel cocooned and safe.

Brava Lingerie fills a much-needed gap and brings a welcome and unique experience to the Brisbane market. Alkot Studio is proud to have been a part of creating an elegant, inclusive, and intimate space for their clients.
